Because of the large number of classes we offer each day we are able to meet the time constraints and schedules of our members and keep class sizes small and personal. Each class begins with a coach led warm up and mobility session followed by strength training and weightlifting, and then finishing with a conditioning/cardio workout. This system leads to huge gains in athletic ability and overall fitness, including weight loss and fat burning. These high intensity classes incorporating bodyweight movements and weightlifting are very efficient and very effective! The scalability and flexibility of CrossFit allows us to meet the varying needs and goals of our members and get them where they need to be! What is CrossFit? A Formal definition:

CrossFit is constantly varied, functional movements performed at a high intensity. CrossFit is a method designed to mimic a human’s natural movements through exercise. Our lives are based on movements that happen all day long; whether it is picking up your child, getting in and out of your car or helping a friend move. These are called “functional movements.” CrossFit is influenced by these movements and has set up a system to maximize the potential of our physical capacities as human beings. The programming of CrossFit is based on gymnastics, weightlifting and mono-structural movements. You will become stronger in all of these areas therefore making your potential to move your own body weight or external objects that much greater. Regardless of age, experience and fitness level, any individual can participate in CrossFit because the workouts are scaled to a person’s individual abilities.

A former gymnast Greg Glassman founded CrossFit®, Inc. in 2000. He found that the best way to achieve optimal fitness was not through specialization but rather through “constantly varied, functional movement, performed at high intensity.” In short, this means combining elements of Olympic weightlifting, gymnastics, sprinting, rowing and core conditioning to improve overall flexibility, strength, speed, endurance and agility.

Power/intensity is how much weight you can move over the longest distance in the shortest amount of time, while maintaining proper form and technique.

FUNCTIONAL MOVEMENTS

Movements that we use in everyday life such as squatting, dead lifting, pulling yourself up, etc. These are movements that promote neurological and hormonal responses, leading to better health, actual strength, actual core stability, agility, and flexibility. CrossFit can be scaled to any body, any age, and any level of fitness. It’s fun, its safe, and best of all it gets results.
